Silent disco in the shark tank sounds like some sort of weird code, but it’s actually part of the festivities that’ll be going down at the S.C. Aquarium for Nightmare on the Harbor II. And it’s exactly what it sounds like. Silent disco is a dance party phenomenon in which anyone who wants to dance is given a pair of wireless headphones, so they can listen — and of course, dance — without the neighbors having to deal with all the noise of a club. As for the shark tank part, just take that literally. If grooving to music that only you can hear isn’t your thing, there will be plenty of other distractions, such as a Halloween-themed fashion show, and a re-enactment of Michael Jackson’s Thriller by SoftShoe Productions. It sounds like we can expect a little more MJ than just the Halloween classic, however. “I don’t want to give away any surprises, but it’s not going to be just Thriller,” says a representative of Brightsound Entertainment, the group throwing the bash. There will also be live music by electro-pop duo Cherub and the Grammy-nominated Mad Violinist and the Symphony Crack Orchestra. And what would a Halloween party be without a costume contest? The winner will walk away with 500 bucks. We suggest avoiding anything Thriller-inspired. That competition might be a little stiff.
