Theatre 99 isn’t pulling any punches in 2012, it seems. In January, there was the jam-packed Charleston Comedy Festival, and last month, famed funny guy Aziz Ansari graced the stage at the comedy club. Now, ringing in March, it’s Neal Brennan — director, actor, writer, comedian, and co-creator of Chappelle’s Show, the No. 1-selling television show DVD of all time. Brennan also had a hand in the old-school MTV dating show Singled Out and the Nickelodeon children’s sketch comedy All That; he also worked with Dave Chappelle on the script for Half Baked, which has since become a cult classic among cannabis lovers (even if the pair’s working relationship petered out). More recently, he directed the 2008 feature film The Goods and appeared in Get Him to the Greek in 2010. A regular at some of the nation’s top venues in New York City and Los Angeles, Brennan’s appearance in Charleston is something any comedy lover won’t want to miss. Come on, he has a faux-hawk, or at least he does in the promo shots we have. So he must be funny.
