CANCELED DUE TO FLOODING: Sorry folks, but it's just too wet for Monsters U tonight. Stay tuned for an update on when Mike and Sully will make their way to Marion Square.
Guess what’s back again? It’s none other than Movies in Marion Square. Now in its 11th year, City Paper’s annual free movie series invites the whole town to bring some blankets and chairs — just no coolers or snacks — and pick the perfect spot under the stars to watch the big screen. And Friday’s film is Monsters University, the blockbuster Pixar prequel to Monsters, Inc. Of course, we don’t want you to go hungry — after all, food and movies go together like Mike and Sully. Vendors like Roti Rolls, Cory’s Grilled Cheese, D’Allesandro’s Pizza, Kickin’ Chicken, King of Pops, the Orange Spot, and Lowcountry Fun Foods will be on hand serving up the eats. And since it’s City Paper sponsored party, you know there’s going to be booze. Bring your ID and you can sip on wine and beer. Note: The food and drinks aren’t free, so make sure you have some cash in your wallet. Movies in Marion Square will run through May 2, with Dodgeball being shown on Thurs. April 24, Frozen on Fri. May 2, and one film yet to be determined for Fri. May 9. Films start at dusk, and be sure to call the hotline if a rainstorm starts to brew.
