Ryan Condon, the owner of Big John's Tavern, let his nephews run the place for more than a decade, but when they let Chef Cory Burke start taking over operations, Uncle Ryan had to step in. Burke earned foodie raves for the edgy Asian-Fusion he was turning out next door at the Green Door, but his eclectic creations didn't sit well with Condon. “I don't even know what the hell grilled kimchee is,” he told the Post and Courier. Burke was out and a new menu, compiled by John Adamson of the Rarebit and hired gun Brannon Florie, was in. Corn dogs, deviled eggs, and shrimp po boys — bar food is safe, at least for now.
