This week, the now-legendary Barn Jam series at Awendaw Green will be flipped on its head with a Monster Indie Barn Jam. Nationally known artists Jukebox the Ghost will headline at 8 p.m. with support from locals HeyRocco and some far-away friends SPEAK, and the Elwins. Boone, N.C.-based River Whyless and Atlanta’s Little Tybee finish off the late evening, with Austin native Silas Durocher between sets. Awendaw Green exec Eddie White’s son Clay White (of the Whisperjets) noticed that Jukebox was playing Savannah this weekend for the Stopover Festival before trekking to South by Southwest in Austin, so he reached out to their guitarist, Tommy Siegel, about possibly stopping in at Awendaw. “They actually stayed at the original Awendaw Green house several years ago,” Eddie says. “Years later, my all-knowing musical son sent Tommy an e-mail, and Tommy sent one to their booking guy. I had River Whyless and Little Tybee already scheduled. Once Jukebox the Ghost agreed, Speak and the Elwins came with them.” It should make for a great Savannah-by-Southwest send-off, or as only Eddie could say it: “The puddle of musical love will run deep.” Steamed Bulls Bay Oysters will be available as well.
