Part of the Piccolo Spoleto Stelle Di Domani series. Starring Joy Vandervort-Cobb in a funny, moving cabaret, recreating people who shaped her into the irreverent comic and compassionate woman that she is. Presented by The Company Company. (90 min.)

The Buzz:

WHAT IS IT? A funny, musical, autobiographical one-woman show recreating stories and influential people from the life of College of Charleston theater professor Joy Vandervort-Cobb.

WHY SEE IT? City Paper called Moments of Joy “worth seeing for Vandervort Cobb’s story alone, but don’t be surprised if you see bits of your own story on stage as well. Don’t be surprised to see your own friends, your own family, and your own life, in much of what she shares, no matter who you may be.” It definitely has the allure of a “based on a true story” story that’s also paired with great comedic performance. And it promises to offer an honest portrayal of the struggle to accept and love oneself.

WHO SHOULD GO? Artists and performers, women of most ages (no little ones — this is an adult show), and fans of Maya Angelou. (Elizabeth Pandolfi)
