MLB All-Star Tim Hudson playing at the Joe this weekend

Unfortunately, he's on the other team

If you missed the RiverDogs’ opening day festivities on Thursday night, fear not — so did everyone, since the game was rained out.

Plus there’s still plenty of excitement in store at the Joe this weekend. On Saturday night, three-time Major League Baseball All-Star Tim Hudson will be in the house, making a rehab start for the Rome Braves, the minor-league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

Hudson, who has finished with double-digit wins in 12 of his 13 total seasons at the major-league level, underwent surgery last November due repair a herniated disk in his lower back. A native of Columbus, Ga., and an Auburn University graduate, he will make five or six total starts for the Rome Braves before returning to the big show, according to CBS Sports.

Aside from a major-league ace making a start against the RiverDogs, Saturday night is also this season’s first Go Local Night. In a partnership with Lowcountry Local First, anyone holding a tri-county ID will receive $1 off their ticket at the box office. This year, the Joe will play host for the Minor League All-Star Game, so on Saturday, there will also be an All-Star hat give away.

On Sunday, which is “Kid’s Opening Day,” folks are invited to bring their dog to the ballpark. Kids will receive a free t-shirt from Vapor Apparel, and they will also have the opportunity to run the bases after the game.
