Housed in a small renovated shack with a shotgun counter, one oven, and a beer cooler, Mia Pomodori serves it by the slice or the pie and tacks on a thick, saucy Sicilian variety for added measure. We once had to wait an extra couple of minutes because the owner was not satisfied with the crispiness of the crust on our NY-style slices stacked with pepperoni, anchovy, and fresh ricotta, but the wait is worth the trouble. Once you sit down on the little patio out back with a cold artisanal brew from the drink case and take in a warm, sunny afternoon, you'll know why Mia Pomodori will be staking out this corner for some time to come. —Jeff Allen, Dish (Summer 2010)

I really cannot say enough about this place. Pretty much the best tomato sauce in Charleston, including Il Cortile, Fulton Five, and Lucca. The pizza is second-to-none: made to order, handled with care, nothing but fresh ingredients. The stromboli and calzones are also better than any I've had in the city. This place is a gem and I hope it stays open (maybe even upgrades to a larger location) for a long time. A must-have.

when i ordered delivery the driver told me it was much better if eaten at the restaurant because the pizza and crust get steamed in the delivery box and it isn't as good. I'm glad they were honest, i will drop in for a fresh slice soon.

The review is dead-on. It's great anytime, but if you go on Sundays, you can bring your own wine or beer.
