If the words football and military awards make you want to black out in a fit of euphoria, then good, you’re an American. This year is the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl, a senior all-star game and one of four in the country. The players for the game were chosen from a pool of the country’s best college players, and now get to play with some pretty big named coaches: Ralph Friedgen, top coach at University of Maryland from 2000 to 2010, and Chan Gailey, the head coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2010-2012. The net profits from the game go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Medal of Honor Museum aboard the Yorktown. “Nearly 80 percent of the players will sign contracts to play professional football,” says Tommy McQueeney, the chairman of the committee that organized the game. “This will be the greatest assemblage of football players who have ever been in the same game in our state.” If you want to see a full list of coaches and players, check out their website.
