Acclaimed local realist painter Fletcher Crossman presents a reception for Fletcher Crossman: A Retrospective on Thurs. Oct. 22 at Mary Martin Gallery. The event also marks the publication of the City Paper’s resident art critic Nick Smith’s book Fletcher Crossman: The Age of Endarkenment, which documents the development of Crossman’s artistic style.
Crossman is currently working on a series of paintings inspired by Holocaust survivors, and recently garnered praise for his large-scale painting "The Apple Thief," displayed in the sanctuary of the Circular Congregational Church.
The free reception will feature the award-winning Spoleto fixture’s more recent large pieces. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. For more details call the gallery at (843) 723-0303.
