Local boy done good. Journalist and This American Life contributing editor Jack Hitt was born and raised in Charleston. In fact, one of his most famous stories involves the Holy City's infamous transsexual Dawn Langley Simmons.

Science class. Using tales like the one about Langley and others from his eccentric life, Hitt combines personal stories and brain science to explain that what we perceive to be true might not actually be in this one-man show. His tales are accentuated with video art designed by Aaron Harrow.

No lies here. Despite the name Making Up the Truth, you won't hear any fictitious embellishment in Hitt's performance — this won't go into the same fuzzy territory as another Spoleto performer and This American Life contributor who shall go nameless here.
