This may be a bit weird, but our favorite smell in the world is used books. The mildewed pages and old leather makes us weak in the knees, which is why we always get pretty pumped for That Summer Book Sale. It’s a book-smellers paradise, but it’s also a readers haven. Where else are you going to find books for a buck? The annual book sale also has CDs and DVDs, as well as children’s books for 50 cents. “Most items are of gift-giving quality. I’m eying a few books on CD for my dad as a Father’s Day gift,” says Emily Everett, executive director of Charleston Friends of the Library. And if you can hold out until Sunday, everything is half off. Members of Friends of the Library will have the opportunity to browse the sale’s tables before the public with a special shopping event on Thurs. June 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
