Lulie Wallace

When: Thu., Aug. 4, 5-10 p.m. 2011
Price: Free
The Charleston art scene is always changing and always producing fresh, new artists who bring their vision to the Holy City, like Lulie Wallace. Known for her floral still lifes, Wallace will be having her first exhibition at Stems, a floral design studio located downtown. The show is free for everyone, and they will have local beer from the Westbrook Brewing Company on tap. The show will feature more than 60 of Wallace’s floral still lifes. Wallace, who graduated from College of Charleston’s fine arts program in 2009, has been working in Charleston for the last couple of years. She started out painting in her garage but has since moved on to the Redux Contemporary Art Center. “I feel like with my artwork, I want people to look at it and for it to represent something they never would have pictured in still life,” says Wallace. “I want it to make the viewers think, ‘That’s something I never would have expected.’”
