If you’ve been wondering where to wear your gingham and overalls, you’re in luck. This weekend, the Gusto Group and Lowcountry Local First are teaming up to throw a good old-fashioned Lowcountry Hoedown. The party will celebrate local restaurants and breweries by bringing them together in one place, and will feature food from restaurants like Home Team BBQ, The Barbeque Joint, and Ho-M, and libations from Southern distilleries like SOB Whiskey, Dark Corner, and Old Smokey Moonshine. But there’s no danger of blindness with this white lightning. “Of course, the moonshine here isn’t like the stuff made in the backwoods of Virginia and kept in mason jars in the back of your refrigerator,” says Gusto Group President Hillary Johnson. After taking some liquid inspiration, put on your dancin’ boots for the folk-Americana band Corduroy Road. They’ll be followed by Blue Billy Grit, winners of the 2012 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition.
