Vou san vou-mem byen? The 21st annual Lowcountry Cajun Festival will be jumpin’ at the James Island County Park on Sun. April 1 from 12-6 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 for adults, and it’s free for kids 12 and under and Gold Pass holders. The festival features Cajun and Creole foods, children’s activities, and authentic zydeco and blues from Mel Melton and His Wicked Mojos and Li’l Brian and the Zydeco Travelers, plus other Cajun entertainment. Singer/harmonica player Melton and his band are based in Durham, N.C., and they specialize in “blues with a Zyde-Cajun twist.” Led by young accordion player and singer Brian Terry, the Baton Rouge-based Zydeco Travelers handle traditional zydeco with a twist of funk grooves and a touch of hip-hop.
