Southern-style mussels

Say hello to one of our favorite rustic, brick-walled dining ventures on Market Street. Steve Kish, a long-time restaurateur in Charleston and owner of 82 Queen, opened Lowcountry Bistro in the heart of Charleston’s historic Market district. LB takes on traditional Southern cuisine with a few modern twists and a dash of Creole and French thrown in the mix. Frogmore stew, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and Carolina crab cakes exist alongside the Market Burger, cioppino, and jambalaya, which ensures there’s something for everyone. The setting is simple and casual, with a large second floor balcony, which is perfect for people-watching while enjoying a refreshing Southern peach cooler. —Eric Doksa Dish (Winter 2014)
