Online shopping — convenient as it may be — can also be a major pain. It’s hard knowing how things will look in real life and on an actual person. Which is why in June 2010, while Kristen Gastaldo was busy planning her wedding, she decided she had had enough. That sparked an idea to bring local vendors and craftsmen together for one exciting event, the Lowcountry Artist Market. The season of the market helps Gastaldo determine which artists should be in the show and what categories of artwork would be most successful. “Chosing the vendors is always a hard process,” she says. “I try to pick a wide selection of jewelry, print art, stationery, fabrics, and anything else I can find. No two vendors are alike.” Artists at this month’s market will include Findy Things, Onawa Designs, Eithneco, and about 30 others. Pet Helpers will also be there with animals for adoption. If you get hungry, King of Pops and Hello My Name Is BBQ will be slinging their treats, and the Music Farm will have a bartender preparing mimosas and Bloody Marys.
