Bill Livingston has been selling the fish he catches since he was a kid. He opened Livingston’s Bulls Bay Seafood in 1995, and perhaps those decades of commercial fishing experience have helped keep his shrimp dock alive. Bulls Bay has 13 boats catching shrimp to sell wholesale. They also offer farm-raised clams, oysters, and soft-shell crabs. In the spring, during soft-shell season, Livingston and his son-in-law Jeff Massey, who helps run the business, stay open 24 hours a day to hustle those soft shells. So if you want to pick up an order at 3 a.m., they will be there. Bulls Bay Seafood used to predominantly sell their products in New York, and they still deliver to Fulton Market, but since the locavore craze, 80 percent of their seafood is kept in-state. They run delivery routes twice a week from Georgetown all the way to the North Carolina line. You can find their clams, oysters, and shrimp at Mt. Pleasant’s Whole Foods Market. Season opens up in May.
