Local rock station 98X (“if it rocks, it’s on the X”) hosts the third annual Live X Concert this weekend with a healthy dose of classic and contemporary rockers on the roster. Chicago-based alt-rock band Chevelle, a kick drum-driven group led by vocalist and guitarist Pete Loeffler, co-headline with Island/Def Jam recording artists Saliva, who are back on the road behind a new one called Cinco Diablo. Walt Lafty (of Silvertide) is filling in on lead vocals with the band while lead singer Josey Scott recuperates from recent ulcer surgery. Candlebox returns to town behind its latest album Into the Sun (featuring the radio singles “Stand” and “A Kiss Before Dying”) and a live CD/DVD package titled Alive in Seattle. One of the coolest highlights of the Live X bill may be former Guns N’ Roses bassist and Playboy financial columnist Duff McKagan’s new band Loaded (pictured), who just kicked off their first ever U.S. tour in support of the April release of their debut album, Sick (Century Media). Duff’s on lead vocals and guitar these days, alongside guitarist Mike Squires, bassist Jeff Rouse, and drummer Geoff Reading. Mass.-based metal band All That Remains and local rock trio Leslie fill out the bill.
