Richard Sexton is a photographer best known for taking pictures of historical and cultural architecture. He started snapping pictures of buildings around Louisiana, many in various stages of decline, and later broadened his scope to other locales, like San Francisco, Georgia, and South Carolina. He’s captured landscapes, historical buildings, and the subtle hint of culture surrounding these areas — all chosen because they’ve stood through the passage of time. A common theme within all of Sexton’s photography is the sensation of being unhurried. Languid Moments chronicles Sexton’s 20-year career in photography and focuses predominantly on his recent work in Cuba. Sexton’s also the author of 10 books, and he’ll be available for a signing at the show. And on Thurs. May 6, Sexton will hold a lecture at the American College of the Building Arts at the Old Jail starting at 6 p.m. —Christina Janke
