Shopping during Christmas can be exhausting and stressful. There’s nowhere to park, you have to fight people to get the last LEGO friend, and you’re forced to listen to the same Taylor Swift cover of “Last Christmas” in every store. If only it was more like a spa day. Well, it can be. The King Street Shop Walk wants you to enjoy shopping during the holidays, and they’re going to make sure you do with champagne, eye treatments, and appetizers. When you purchase a ticket for the event, you receive a King Street Passport that gets you these services as well as two door prize tickets and discounts at more than 70 participating King Street stores. “All of the retailers are offering some sort of benefit including 20 to 50 percent off merchandise, and most of them are having complimentary hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and more,” says Shauna Mackenzie, founder of King Street Shop Walk and owner of Mackenzie Image Consulting. Proceeds from the shop walk will benefit the Center for Women, an educational nonprofit dedicated to the economic and professional development of women in South Carolina. Mackenzie adds this year marks the fifth year of the shop walk, and it’s a big milestone for the event. Last year, “550 attendees participated and this year, we’re already ahead of last year’s ticket sales,” Mackenzie says.
