Americana rocker and Washington D.C. native Justin Jones kicks off a three-week residency at the Royal American on Wednesday night in support of his new studio album Fading Light (9:30 Records). For several years following the 2004 release of his debut album Blue Dreams, Jones found himself lost and suffering from severe drug addiction. He was able to release a couple of albums during his rehabilitation, but none as successful as his first. Now, he’s clean and finding inspiration through his music once again. “It seems no matter the struggles in life, I always come back to music,” he stated in a press release. “Fading Light is my reawakening.” In recent years, Jones has performed alongside Ray LaMontagne, k.d. lang, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Drive-By Truckers, just to name a few. His latest single off of Fading Light, “Miracles,” was recently featured on NPR Music’s All Songs Considered blog. Jones will play the Royal American on July 11, 18, and 25 (between treks through Georgia and the Carolinas). Local indie-pop band Elim Bolt opens at 9 p.m.
