Jonathan Green is the artist behind Spoleto Festival USA’s best-selling poster. Released in 2004, “Eyelets” shows Green’s Gullah influences in its depiction of a girl in a vivid red dress swinging up into the sky. And unlike Maya Lin or Chuck Close, he’s a Lowcountry local, working out of a studio on Daniel Island. Green will participate in a meet and greet at Spoleto headquarters in an event hosted by the Charleston Friends of the Library. The tickets include not only the meet and greet, plus beverages and hors d’oeuvres, but a ticket to that night’s Sarah Jarosz show at the Cistern (learn more about her on page 50). If you’re a fan of Green’s work but can’t attend, you can bid on a special lithograph (“Farm Woman”) that’s being auctioned off at charlestonlibraryfriends.org, which will benefit the organization.
