John Street Jazz

An elegant two-night showcase of one of Charleston's brightest vocal talents in a Gullah-centric setting

What is it? An elegant two-night showcase of one of Charleston's brightest vocal talents in a Gullah-centric setting.

Why see it? Acclaimed Charleston jazz/blues vocalist Ann Caldwell is a versatile performer who draws from several American styles. She and her backing combo, Loose Fit, have conducted numerous jazz events at Gallery Chuma (located next to 39 Rue de Jean) over the last year. The band lineup features pianist Richard White, bassist Vince Rivers, and drummer David Patterson. Wine and authentic Lowcountry-styled hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Gullah Cuisine Restaurant.

Who should go? These sets are for lovers of smooth jazz, visual arts, and Gullah culture.

PICCOLO SPOLETO • $15-$20 • 2 hours • May 25 at 3 and 5 p.m.; May 31 at 6 and 8:15 p.m. • Gallery Chuma, 43 John St. • (888) 374-2656
