Most of us try to avoid trips to jail over the weekend, but that won’t be the case this Saturday as Jail Break returns for its third installment. The all-encompassing arts festival that will transform the Old City Jail into a creative, interactive showcase of local artists, artisans, and musicians. Artwork from well-known and newly emerging artists will pack all three levels of the spooky venue, while dancers from DanceFX and Annex Dance Co. fill old cells with rhythmic liberation. Outside, an impressive lineup of musical talent will perform, including Slow Runner, Entropy Ensemble, French Camp (featuring songwriter Owen Beverly), Old You, Firework Show, Heyrocco, Danielle Howle and others. Guests can also take part in interactive arts and crafts, live painting, and building arts demonstrations in the jail’s courtyard. Entropy Arts, an event planning company specializing in arts and performance, started the Jail Break event last May as a way to unite local artists and audiences. “It was a natural step to host an arts festival where diverse artists and audiences could come together to celebrate the arts,” festival organizer Andrew Walker says.
