Mt. Pleasant Italian eatery Bacco has taken notice of the fenomeno di birra that’s happening in Italy and will team up with Aleph Wines and the Charleston Beer Exchange for a four-course pairing showcasing some of the finest (and rarest) Italian craft beers. Chef/owner Michael Scognamiglio’s menu includes house-cured duck breast speck with roasted peaches and duck confit, ricotta gnocchi and lamb ragu, braised beef over parmigian farro, and birra cake. The featured beers include Montegioco Quarta Runa peach ale, Birrificio Barley’s strong BB Dexi barley wine, Montegioco Bran barley wine, and the ultra-strong Birrificio Pausa Cafè barley wine. “This will be the first-ever beer dinner of its kind in the Southeast,” says Charleston Beer Exchange co-owner Scott Shor in a press release. “It will showcase some of the finest and rarest Italian craft beers, paired expertly with Chef Scognamiglio’s extraordinary cuisine. It should be a wild, wonderful, and unique dinner.” Charleston Beer Exchange currently has bottles of each featured beer in stock. Reservations are required and seating is limited.
