There are certain aspects of Irish culture that are funny. We could start with the entire
Leprechaun series and move on to the fact that Flogging Molly even exists and has, like, thousands of fans. But these paltry details will hopefully pale in comparison to what actual Irish comedians have to say about their people, their country, and life in general at Theatre 99’s Irish Invasion, where three up-and-coming blokes from the Emerald Isle (plus one native Charlestonian who now lives there) will entertain crowds in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. We’re not entirely sure if Irish humor is any different than American humor, but this show would be a great opportunity to find out from Chris Kent, Jason Coughlan, Billy Anderson, and Gordon Rochford. And if all else fails, at least you get to listen to three dudes who sound like Jonathan Rhys Meyers (even if they don’t look like him). They also have a performance on Saturday (see City Pick, page 25).
