Holy gazpacho, Ladles keeps growing

Local soup shop plans fourth location

As the temperatures rise and the tomatoes ripen, we can’t help but think about the bright flavors of gazpacho. A lot of time is spent each summer sampling versions around town, trying to find a favorite. All of them are usually worth liking because, really, how can you go wrong with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and herbs. There are tons of versions out there: chunky, smooth, and everything in between.

Ladles, the local soup and sandwich shop, adds green bell pepper to theirs. Haven’t tried it yet, but with this expanding local business, it looks like it won’t be long before there’s one close to us. There are currently three locations — West Ashley, Summerville, and Kiawah — and proprieter Suzie Allen is currently scouting locations in Mt. Pleasant.

As for the gazpacho, who's got the best in town? I've got to start searching for the bowl of the summer.
