The 80-degree weather might have thrown you off, but this Saturday will mark the official start of Charleston’s hockey season. It’s also the 20th anniversary of the South Carolina Stingrays, and they’re celebrating with “an entire day of hockey fun,” says Stingrays Broadcaster Joseph Zakrzewski. The day kicks off at 2 p.m. with a free Stingray alumni game featuring players from Stingrays teams as far back as 1993 — expect to see some sweet throwback jerseys. Later the festivities will move into the parking lot for some tailgating and a Hockey Happy Hour before the Stingrays take on the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Anyone who paid attention to last year’s playoffs will probably remember the multiple overtime games these two teams played. Come Saturday, this division rivalry will start right where it left off during last year’s postseason.
