Hang out with Johnny Depp and Neil Young at ELA Tuesday

Eye Level hosts second Movies on the Green

We think Eye Level Art is on to something. Yes, al fresco movies are always charming, but throw a young Johnny Depp (before he got too weird) on the big screen with a cool soundtrack from Neil Young, and you're sure to have an eager audience.

The gallery recently announced the second screening in their Movies on the Green Series this Tuesday, Aug. 4. They’ll be showing Dead Man in the courtyard of the 103 Gallery.

Jim Jarmusch’s 1995 film stars Johnny Depp as a young man on an adventure-filled journey into the Wild West. Billy Bob Thornton, Gabriel Byrne, Robert Mitchum, and Iggy Pop also make appearances.

Dead Man is an amazing film that’s accessible to both a more mainstream film-oriented audience — come on ... who doesn’t like Johnny Depp? — as well as an audience more comfortable with lesser known, more artistic films,” says Caroline Millard, gallery coordinator at ELA.

The series’ first installment, a screening of North by Northwest, drew a crowd of around 70 and plenty of positive feedback, according to Millard.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to get comfy on the lawn. Food and bevs will be for sale, or you can bring your own beer or wine for a $5 corking fee. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Call (843) 425-3576 for more info.
