Halloween Round-up: For all that is hallow 

Where to get down, dress up, and maybe even earn some prizes all over town

In a city with so much to do, the decision of where to commit yourself on Halloween night can be more than a little stressful. Costume contests, theme parties, cheap drinks, and live music are all elements that need to be taken into account. If you have no idea where to begin, or if you’re Halloween grinch looking for where not to go in hopes of avoiding Halloween altogether (probably not possible), keep calm and read on. We’ve got the Halloween scoop.

King Street Public House is giving away almost $700 in cash prizes to party-goers with the best costumes on Friday night.

O-Ku has $300 in cash prizes to give away for the best male and female costume and the best staff costume.

Nothing goes together like zombies and tikis. Put on your best hula skirt and groan your way over to The Cocktail Club.

If you’re looking for the best place to wear your WWF costume, look no further. Recovery Room is holding a WWF Royal Rumble-themed costume contest with tunes from DJs Bird Flu and Jeff ET.

The Royal Tinfoil and SUSTO take over the Royal American stage for a spooky Halloween show.

“Peligroso” means “dangerous,” and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to take a walk on the wild side with the Peligroso Cinnamon Tequila specials this weekend at Taco Boy downtown and the Biergarten. Taco Boy will have DJ Natty Heavy spinning the jams as well as costume contests. And Biergarten has DJ CiLo and drink specials all night.

Sip on disco lemonade and try to win $1,000 in cash prizes for the best costumes at Rusty Rudder.

Do the Monster Mash to music from Tidal Jive and enter the costume contest on Thursday and Friday for your chance of winning some of the $2,000 in cash prizes at Republic Reign.

Lectra Lust rocks out The Barrel starting at 7 p.m. The bar on Folly Road will keep all the ghosts and goblins satiated with barbecue from food truck Smoke.

We wouldn't recommend using Wild Wing's Hallowing as costume inspiration — chicken wings just seem hard to pull off — but if you come up with the best costume, you could win $500 for first place. Dan's Tramp Stamp will play the jams to make you boogey.

Be naughty or nice at The Shelter's Superhero and Villain party — the best do-gooders or mischief-making costumes can win cash. High 5 will perform.

For those revelers looking for an early start, head to Warehouse and help decorate at 4 p.m. to create a haunted warehouse — see what they did there. Drink specials and dance music round out the festivities.

Knock, knock. Who's there? Trick or Trio on Thursday with a costume contest where the winner gets a VIP table for Halloween night.

Forget hocus pocus, and think hookah pocus at Priya. The new bar hosts a costume contest with a grand prize of a weeklong Carnival cruise for two.

Starting on Thursday, Dudley's transforms itself into a wicked version of The Wizard of Oz with a costume contest on Thursday during the Patti O'Furniture show at 11 p.m. Categories include best Wicked/Oz-themed, scariest, sexiest, celebrity impersonator, group costume, and most creative. Cash/prizes for each winner and $500 for best overall costume.

What better way to celebrate the annual costume day than with $1 Jell-O shots and live music from Rawberry Jam at Mac's Place.

Nothing is better than free. Mex 1 Coastal Cantina offers parents in costumes a free margarita and the dressed up kids eat for free.

Make sure you pick out some comfy dancing shoes for a night of music at the Pour House with Mike Quinn's Funktacular Halloween Extravaganza with songs from Lettuce, Soullive, and other funk standards.

Prepare to die or at least dress like a member of the undead at The walking Dead at Red’s. Not So Serious will play live, and Mike from 2 Ghouls and a a Guy hosts a costume contest, with first place of $500 cash and Red’s gift certificates for second and third.

Calling all Frank-n-Furters, Tides will screen The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the beach with a both a movie-themed costume contest and a traditional one.

The Avondale bars are teaming up to search for the best costume in all of West Ashley. The Roost Bar N’ Grille, Pearlz Oyster Bar, Voodoo Tiki Bar, Gene’s Haufbrau, Mellow Mushroom, and Oak Barrel Tavern will hold individual costume contests at 9 p.m., each one awarding a $100 gift card to the best costume. At 9:45 p.m., each winner will gather in the parking lot of Triangle Char & Bar for a final test, and the overall champion will be announced to win $500 cash.

King Street Grille Downtown is the official after-party location for the Haunted Harbor Cruise with a DJ from 10- until close with $2 beer and $4 house liquor.
