When Vickery’s downtown location closed suddenly this summer, a lot of people were upset. But no one was really looking at the big picture: With no Vickery’s, that meant no more Wicked Halloween Party. And that thing was almost two decades old. Its ghost — hopefully a friendly one — will be present at downtown’s Taco Boy, who’s decided to help pick up the slack. Families are welcome before 6 p.m. for food specials and fun. At 8 p.m., the real party — the costume party — starts. Dub Island and the Dubplates will provide the tunes, and there’ll be games and food and drink specials. “Taco Boy always loves to throw a great party, and for Halloween this year, we are excited to give Charlestonians a forum to express their creativity,” says General Manager Ben Davidson. “We’re giving away $1,000 for the best costume and a private taco truck party to the best Taco Boy costume, so we’re expecting to see some really amazing costumes.” Vickery’s downtown is dead. Long live Taco Boy. —Susan Cohen
