Gullah author, historian and performer Ron Daise, of the award-winning TV series "Gullah Gullah Island," will introduce us to "Gullah/Geechee Rhythms." Music, pictures, and personal reflections will be interwoven throughout stanzas of the well-known Gullah coded message song, "Dats Right, I am a Gullah!" -- a joyful song in the call-and-response tradition that affirms and reinforces the history of Gullah culture. Ron Daise is a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest honor, and the State of South Carolina Folk Heritage Award, and serves as vice president for creative education at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, S.C. He lives in Port Royal, S.C. with his wife Natalie and their children.
