Man-about-town Reid Stone has let his social life take a bit of a backseat lately, spending his days playing Mr. Mom to his new son, Jackson, before heading out to gig in the evenings. Fortunately, the down time has provided the impetus needed to wrap up sessions on Guilt Ridden Troubadour’s debut disc, an 11-song work that’s been in progress at North Charleston’s Mantis Studios for over a year. Stone shared the first mastered tracks with this writer last November, including his signature tunes “Lonely” and “Bound to Cover (Just a Little More Ground).” From snarling Southern rock gems to loose cowboy twang, Stone and his band — guitarist Jeff Davis, drummer John Picard, and bassist Wilson Pippin — are establishing themselves to surpass the spotlight Stone’s defunct Mississippi group, Daybreakdown, established a decade ago. For their headlining gig at the Pour House, Stone plans to stretch out with a handful of special guests, including a saxophone player and guitar from former roommate Ryan Bonner. Look out for the group’s first release mid-summer.
