Shakespeare coined the term “It’s all Greek to me” in 1599’s Julius Caesar. Say what you want about the Bard, but he — or his ghostwriter — was ahead of his time. And if you find Greek culture to be, well, Greek, then this weekend’s cultural festival celebrating all things Grecian is a good place to get started. Feast on gyros — sliced fresh off the cone — sip Mythos and Alpha beers, and listen to traditional Greek music during the three-day fest. “The band is A Night in Athens, featuring George Antonopoulos on the bouzouki. George is the Eric Clapton of Greek guitar — per me,” says Tom Meletis, the organizer of the event. The organizers of the festival also want to use the time to educate the public about their culture, and they’re offering church tours to showcase their religion. Greek pastries and doughnuts will be made fresh on site to curb any sweet cravings. Or if you want to show your sweet side, bring your mom — she gets in free on Mother’s Day.
