The Alley may be a new hot spot for bowling, drinks, and dining, but apparently they know how to throw a party too. They’re the site of this year’s Charleston Gopher Ball, an annual event to raise funds and awareness for the First Tee Greater Charleston. The program provides positive mentoring and teaches life values to local youth through the game of golf. The theme is Caddyshack, and guests are encouraged to dress in 1980s country club attire — think plaids and pastels. Admission includes an evening of food, cocktails, music, bowling, and arcade games. You’re also guaranteed quality time with 400 of your closest colorfully clad friends and First Tee’s six-foot gopher mascot named Lenny, who will be hosting “Lenny’s Olympics” this year. “For a $20 donation you get a score card and a chance to bowl, play skee ball, and shoot some hoops — the best cumulative score for the night wins some awesome prizes,” says First Tee’s Staci Bennett. Bill Murray, if you’re reading this, please crash this party.
