Glass Onion makes the Saveur 100 

Bearnaise and fries get called out

What do schmalz, Pyrex measuring cups, chicken paprikash, and Pulitzer-prize winning food writer Jonathan Gold have in common with the Glass Onion? They're all part of the Saveur 100, an annual list of foodie favorites from across the country compiled by the national food magazine. While schmalz (No. 82) and Pyrex (No. 72) were highlighted for making everything taste better and being the little black dress of the kitchen, respectively, and Gold (No. 98) was called out for his "democratic approach" and "contagious passion," the Glass Onion was praised for its fries and bearnaise, a sublime combination that gets a stellar writeup from Rachel Levkowicz of Charleston: "The twice fried potatoes are so perfectly crisp on the outsides and soft on the inside that they'd be stars all by themselves, but the creamy tarragon bearnaise is the best dip imaginable."

Co-owner Sarah O'Kelley and her partners Charles Vincent and Chris Stewart were thrilled with their inclusion on this coveted list.

"As a foodie, I always look forward to the Saveur 100," says Sarah, "so, for our fries and bearnaise to be included in this list really feels like a supreme honor. Of course, I believe that some credit must be given to Celeste Albers because her incredible eggs literally and figuratively make our bearnaise!"

To celebrate their place on the list, the Glass Onion will be giving away their fries and bearnaise — literally — on Tues. Jan. 19 with any order of a plate or sandwich.

They're open for lunch and dinner, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
