Getting Loungy at Charleston Sound

The Bridge at 105.5 and Charleston Sound record special sessions

Charleston radio station The Bridge at 105.5 (WCOO) and local studio Charleston Sound hooked up for another installment of The Bridge at 105.5 Lounge — a midday gig at the Mt. Pleasant recording facility on July 7.

Hawaii-based songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter was between shows at the Windjammer when he and his band dropped by Charleston Sound's main recording room. The Bridge's Operations Manager Mike Allen and Music Director Joel Frank were on hand while engineer Jeff Hodges manned the mixing board. The Bridge aired interview segments and acoustic takes last week.

"It went very well and smoothly," says Hodges. "In fact, he may be coming back next year after his upcoming record comes out to do a session here in Charleston."

More in-studio lounge gigs are on the way, including a session with JJ Grey (of Mofro) this week, and with Grace Potter & The Nocturnals (both acts are playing at the Windjammer as well).
