In the mood for some great barbecue? That's not the only reason to stop by The Barbeque Joint in North Charleston's Olde Village this summer. Every August, Charleston's First Day Festival provides thousands of students with their much-needed school supplies for the new school year. This year, the BBQ Joint is helping out by holding a School Supply Drive to ensure that these students have the materials they need.
"We love reaching out and being charitable," says Manager Michael Dumas. "Every little bit counts." This isn't the only fund-raiser they hold each year. Last Christmas, they hosted a toy drive and just recently helped out a local wheelchair basketball team.
With their new promotion through Aug. 7 to benefit the festival, customers will receive a free sandwich in return for a school supply donation. Now you can scarf down a pulled pork sandwich and support a good cause all in one sitting.
