I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word fluffy, I instantly think of puppies, bunnies, and anything soft and cuddly and cute — not a 33-year-old man in a Hawaiian shirt with a killer sense of humor. But that’s exactly what funny man Gabriel Iglesias wants you to think of him as: fluffy, funny, and definitely not fat. Iglesias, known for his animated, hilarious mix of storytelling, parodies, characters, and sound effects, is stopping in North Charleston during his Fluffy Shop Tour. He has performed his comedic skills on shows like Last Comic Standing, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and many more. His latest DVD special I’m Not Fat ... I’m Fluffy premiered on Comedy Central in 2009, continuing his fluffy reign. Filled with voice interpretations, personal storytelling about his size, and (most likely) his love affair with chocolate cake, the latest special is expected to top his previous, Hot & Fluffy. I’ve never quite figured out why fat jokes are so frickin’ funny, especially when someone a bit “fluffy” is telling them, but who cares as long as you’re laughing your way to a stomach cramp that’ll last all night long.
