Tired of the age-old problem of where to put your wallet in a tuxedo jacket/boardshort combo? Yea, us neither, but at Pet Helper’s Ninth Annual Fur Ball, you might since guests are encouraged to mix beach chic with black tie. (We think a fanny pack is the perfect answer to the storage conundrum). Leigh Handal, Pet Helpers’ director of philanthropy and partnerships, says this year’s beach theme can be interpreted however you’d like. She also mentioned that guests might come dressed as a mermaid, a pirate, or a seahorse. Where does a mermaid keep her wallet? The Fur Ball is Pet Helpers’ biggest fundraiser every year, and they have a night packed with entertainment. This year they’ll have a performance by the Dancefx crew, a silent auction with goodies ranging from handmade greeting cards to personalized paintings of their pets to spa packages and restaurant gift certificates. The big get at the live auction will be the African safari trip up for grab. Eddie Bush will also take the mic to perform “Words Just Ain’t Enough,” a song he wrote and donated to Pet Helpers’ newest adoption campaign. “All of the money goes directly to animals in our rescue and adoption shelter. We invite members of our community to take a tour of the shelter to see what we are accomplishing,” says Handal.
