Last week, many in the Charleston band scene were shocked to hear about a major automobile accident involving members of indie act M-Tank. Drummer Jason Walter, bassist Walter Lane, and guitarist Scott Dence suffered injuries from a highway crash near Columbia (see Pulse on p. 46). When the news broke, songwriter Joel Hamilton adjusted the band lineup at the Pour House Aug. 5 to include Bill Carson and rock trio HeyRocco in a benefit for the band. On Aug. 6, Go for Launch (a band who shares members with M-Tank), the Grind Kids, and the Royal Tinfoil played an impromptu benefit at the Mill. Proceeds from the shows went toward M-Tank's expenses. A third benefit is scheduled for Sun. Aug. 14 at the Tin Roof with Stephanie Something's Getaway Sticks, the Royal Tinfoil, Go for Launch, Party Dad, Moceans, and Sleepy Eye Giant. “There has been a tremendous outpouring from the local music community to help raise funds for our friends," says Go for Launch's Stefan Rogenmoser. "These guys need a lot of help."
