From the Children, About the Children, For the Children: Art of the Holocaust

When: April 1-30 2010
Phone: (843) 343-1223
There are times when even we smartasses at the City Paper know that we should be serious. Like in the case of From the Children, About the Children, For the Children: Art of the Holocaust, a presentation that allows the victims to present their point-of-view of what was happening to them. Art Institute of Charleston faculty member Sandra Brett is bringing the exhibit, which originated in Cincinnati at the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education, to our city. It features artwork and poetry by children who were forced into ghettos or concentration camps during this dark period of history. Other pieces come from local students, reflecting the emotional impact they received from a presentation on art from the Holocaust. The exhibit can be viewed during regular hours at both the downtown Charleston County Library and the Jewish Community Center. —Caitlyn Chimento
