French tasting menu debuts at Lana

Three courses for $33

Chef John Ondo is changing his tasting menu every two weeks over at Lana. I just wrote about the previous menu the other day, but the new menu debuted last night so I thought I'd provide an update. The French-inpsired lineup of dishes looks fantastic.

Proprietor Drazen Romic tells us they are not charging any corkage fees Mon.-Thurs. nights, which means you can bring your own bottle and they won't charge you a penny to pop that cork.

The new menu begins with a classic French onion soup followed by a choice of Frisee au Lardon salad (frisee, bacon, red wine vinaigrette) or Pieds de Cochon — pork trotters with sauce gribiche and arugula salad. I had pork trotters for the first time recently at FIG, and I'm beginning to realize that — in the right hands — offal isn't so awful. In fact, it's downright sublime. The trotters alone ought to be enough to tempt your tastebuds.

For the entree course, pick from seared salmon with tourné potatoes, glazed vegetables, and choron sauce or the classic Steak au Poivre with brandy peppercorn sauce, gratin, and petit salad.

Three courses for $33? Not bad at all, particularly when it takes you on a tasty tour of the French countryside.
