Freeloading this week: Kill Cupid and prep for SEWE

Free events after spending too much for Valentine's Day

MONDAY If you haven’t already heard, tonight’s the night to say screw you to cupid and his arrows of love at Mellow Mushroom’s F-Cupid Valentine’s Day Party. Looking for something not love related? The Charleston Center for Photography will host its Second Monday Lecture Series.

TUESDAY The Citadel School of Humanities and Social Sciences partnered with SEWE to host a demonstration and lecture by SEWE artist and Citadel alumnus Larry Seymour. CofC’s School of Business presents an MBA Information Session at the Holiday Inn Airport Convention Center while Lynne and Joseph Klosik from Keller Williams hold an info session on Real Estate Investing. If you’re looking for free music, you’ve got three choices: acoustic tunes from Paul Cataldo with Charlie Thompson at Fiery Ron’s Home Team, Shrimp City Slim's (a.k.a Gary Erwin) blues at The Mill, and Kevin Church performing his new album A Little Change at Buddy Roe’s Shrimp Shack.

WEDNESDAY Jim McGarrity will discuss his book, Checkpoint One-Four: A Vietnam Veteran's Chronicle of Survivor Guilt, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Mending the Invisible Wound and his personal journey during Vietnam at the Main Library. John Brannen, a veteran Carolina singer/songwriter, will perform original songs from collection Bravado at Buddy Roe’s Shrimp Shack. The Charleston Trident Urban League and Charleston School of Law are hosting a Fair Housing Workshop this week in Spanish. Be sure to register with the Charleston Trident Urban League if interested.

THURSDAY Just in time for SEWE, Beth Carlson presents her 6th Annual Sporting Exhibition at Dog & Horse Fine Art.

FRIDAY King Street is sure to be bustling from 6-8 p.m. with the SEWE King Street Stroll. Looking for something a bit quainter? Fresh Fields Village hosts its Art and Wine Walk for residents and visitors to see live art demos and sample wine and cheese pairings from the 11 participating stores.

SATURDAY The CSO Spiritual Ensemble Chorale debut’s performance, A Low Country Spiritual Journey will feature harmonies of the Lowcountry’s African-American culture. Just bought a new home, or thinking about it? The First Time Homebuyer’s Education Workshop will tell you everything you need to know. If you missed it last week, you’ve got another stab at the CCPRC Summer Job Fair.

SUNDAY Jacquie Jone and Jill Terhaar-Lewis will be featured at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Third Sunday Concert Series.
