Freeloaders: Fashion, film, and education

The week's best freebies

The free events this week seem lumped on hump day, so plan and choose wisely!

TUESDAY. Be a spectator at Charleston Bocce's end-of-the-year tournament.

WEDNESDAY. At Women and Fashion, enjoy bubbles, sweets, and 20 percent off your purchase (or 25 percent off for C4W Members) at Monkee’s on Daniel Island. The first 50 women through the door will receive gift bags. Escapada, a local women's resort wear designer, will debut its beach line of cover-ups and caftans with a launch party at the Market Pavilion Hotel on East Bay St. The night will also showcase local jewelry designer Hyla Dewitt and local pastry chef Jennifer Meintel of Twenty Six Divine. The Starlight Cinema series continues at Freshfield Village on Kiawah with Back to the Future. Revisit the adventures of Marty McFly, whose time travel with Doc Brown nearly prevents his parents from meeting. Donations are accepted for Sea Island Habitat for Humanity and don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket to lounge on for the viewing. Whole Foods in Mt. Pleasant is hosting the beneficial and informative Autism Lecture Series. The lectures, by Tiffany Jackson, ND, relay research, therapies, and treatment information that many parents have found to be helpful for their children.

THURSDAY. The women of the Smith clan debut new artworks at a show at the Wells Gallery on Kiawah.

FRIDAY. The opening day of the Custom Home + Remodel Show is free, but it'll cost you if you plan to attend on Saturday or Sunday.

SATURDAY. The Harley-Davidson Garage Party is an exclusive after-hour, women-only event covering topics like basic motorcycle controls, how to customize a motorcycle’s style and ergonomics, and how to gear up for a ride.
