Freeloaders: Enjoy the North Charleston Arts Festival while you can 

The week's best freebies, May 7-13

MONDAY. The North Charleston Arts Festival continues through Saturday, with plenty of free events.

TUESDAY. The Grand Kids have a show at the Recovery Room.

WEDNESDAY. Cornelia Carrier will present on her birding trip to Cuba in 2011, and another Barn Jam takes over Awendaw Green.  

THURSDAY. Hundreds of glassybaby votives will light up the Governor Thomas Bennett House to raise money for cancer patients. New local T-shirt brand iDream.Ink launches with a party. Looks like you picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue, because they’ll be showing Airplane! at Mixson. Christos “Chris” Efessiou will sign copies of his book, which will be followed by a live radio broadcast out of the Francis Marion Hotel, while Brian Hicks will be at Blue Bike.

FRIDAY. The nautical-themed HannahLane Photography show opens.

SATURDAY. If you didn’t get to any of the North Charleston Arts Festival’s events like we told you to up in the Monday section, now’s your last chance at the finale. Water Safety Day will have live entertainment and more as well as educational booths. The Change for Change Art Show raises money for Water Missions International, and Mark S. Holland has an opening. Get on track to grow at the Elliotborough Park and Community Garden Plant Swap.

SUNDAY. Take your mama out to Second Sunday on King Street, or check out the International Islamic Friendship Bazaar at Brittlebank Park.
