Freeloaders: Ducks and cover

The week's best freebies, May 30-June 5

We skipped Monday because we figured you’d be in a backyard or on a beach somewhere, grillin’ and chillin’. But here’s how you can get your freeloading on for the rest of the week:

TUESDAY. Izzy and the Kesstronics will be at the Tattooed Moose, or if you're a little bit country, try the Party in the Park with the LoCash Cowboys. And it’s the last of the Movies at Mixson, but they’re ending with a puff, showing Dazed and Confused. All right, all right, all right. (Imagine I just said that in a Matthew McConaughey voice).

WEDNESDAY. Social’s monthly art and live music showcase, the Starving Artists Series, continues with work from Chuck Keppler, Kim West, Caleigh Bird, Rewined Candles, Christina Carlson, polyesterstella, Silver Rose Jewelry, and the Scarlet Poppy, plus a performance by Emily Painter. This month’s free anime film at the Olde North Charleston Picture House is T.O. A Sundown Poetry Reading Series Reception will take place at Bernie Horton Gallery. Surcee Press hosts a release party for A New Guide to Charleston at Heirloom Book Co.

THURSDAY. Seeking Indigo is hosting their Local Designer Showcase, with jewelry, clothes, art, and more, and, because it’s Seeking Indigo, chair massages and more. Dogs are welcome to the screening of Best in Show at Eye Level Art.

FRIDAY. This month's art walk is called Spoleto Stroll, for obvious reasons. While you’re at it, don’t forget Spoleto Soleil.

SATURDAY. If you want a chance at winning the Charleston Duck Race, you’re going to have to drop some cash (it’s $10 a duck). But if you’d rather just see the spectacle that is 30,000 of Ernie the Muppet’s closest friends, then your wallet will be safe. Break out those rainbow swim trunks or bikini for the Big Gay Beach Day. Holly Herrick is signing books. Since you’ve probably gotten at least one sunburn by now, you might want to take advantage of the Free Skin Screenings at Whirlin’ Waters. It’s not often that you can get free obedience training for your dog like you can at the Bark Busters Dog Training Seminar. And Wonderfest sure sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Your kids will think so, at least.

SUNDAY. The Bud Light Lime Bikini Bash has another round, giving you another excuse to gawk at hot women.
