Unless you’re one of the five people who regularly watches Bravo’s Work of Art, you probably don’t witness too much live-action art competition happening in your life. And although we don’t recommend watching it (seriously, it’s dumb), we do recommend you attend FR3SHArt’s annual Portrait Battle, which is kind of like that show, only way better. This Saturday, 24 of Charleston’s best artists will be bringing their A-game to Redux to sketch, draw, and paint members of the Holy City Beard and Mustache Society while all of us less-talented folks look on in awe. As if watching local artists like Nathan Durfee, Camela Guevara, and Hirona Matsuda duke it out side by side isn’t enough of a reason to go, there’ll be breakfast food by Diggity Doughnuts, lots of beer and wine in the afternoon, and live music by DJs Cassidy and the Kid after the sun goes down. Although entry is free, be sure to bring some extra money, because all portraits done during the battle will be on sale. And we bet you’re going to want to buy one.
