First time collaborators Timothy Pakron and Benjamin Hollingsworth join forces for Folklore, a progressive and personal exhibit to launch Rebekah Jacob Gallery’s fall program.
Pakron’s recent creations are generated from this summer’s trip back home to Mississippi. His black-and-white photos of close friends and family represent and tell the “folklore” of his South. His process involves hand painting the developer in the darkroom to reveal parts of the negative, creating a thoughtful look into the human experience.
Former Charleston Battery midfielder Ben Hollingsworth’s abstract panels combine a variety of medias, from frenetic pencil lines to spray paint and stencils. The colorful and deeply textured pieces composed on paper in shadow boxes focus on religious iconography. —Dustin J. Pitts
